Definitely adding this to my reading list. It sounds whacky and hilarious
The title "Suburban Luchador" sucked me in from the outset, and Philip Rivera's tales of being bossed around by children, dealing with cockroaches, and a quest for minivan parts at a junk yard (or is that 'auto salvage yard'?) are just as enthralling. In the introduction, the author states that he hopes to "highlight the wonder and humor that exists", and I think he has captured this beautifully. "Unfortunately, we live in a world where wonder has been demystified. Dragons and castles are reduced from larger-than-life creations to images on a screen or toys to be put away."
Although I only read a sample of stories from the full edition, Suburban Luchador: Memoirs from Suburbia is a beautifully formatted, well-illustrated book of everyday magic, full of warmth and the wonder of childhood.

Galen Randall fears no elephant, python, lion, or rhino through his camera lens, but he's deathly afraid of airplanes. A random seat assignment pairs him with Lou O'Malley, who calms his fears, but it puts him in the crosshairs of a clumsy, well-intentioned, ill-informed bevy of biker buffoons. Lou's dimwitted, tattooed "protectors" act tough, but they are about to meet a man who eats tough guys for breakfast.
